I personally have never been to Thailand. However several of my friend and teammates from a local Muay Thai/ Kickboxing Gym have trained in Thailand, Europe, and Cambodia. They spent a couple weeks in Thailand and said their training was incredible. The Thai focus on a more traditional, and overall more effective, way of training. They emphasize knees, elbows, and leg kicks far more than American styles which focus on boxing. Most of the conditioning came from drills, bag work, sparring, and pad work. It involves the gradual deadening of the nerves in your shins and forearms, allowing you to check low kicks and block high kicks. I was told it was one of the most difficult cardio workouts they have ever experienced, Overall they said the trip was well worth the time for both the training and the cultural experience you will have.
References :
There are also some reviews on the internet based on experience of people who traveled to Thailand to a Muaythai camp on Google.
References :
There are a few different kinds of gyms,

Western style in the cities

and then the ones that are in the provinces like you see on some television programs/movies, in which you're like no-way?, that isn't real? But it is.

Muaythai training kick a tree with your shin, start lightly and work your way up, if you feel pain you got a long way to go.
