do i need a visa to holiday in thailand?

It depends on what country you hold a passport with. If you are from the USA, Canada, or western Europe you won’t need a visa for 2 weeks in Thailand. Your status is visa exempt for 30 days. Your passport will be stamped with your arrival date and date you must depart Thailand.

No. You will probably be issued a 30-day visa on entry into Thailand.
(Hopefully, despite recent events, Suvarnabhumi Airport will be open) !

Not if you are from the UK, just get a stamp at immigration as it’s good for a month.

If you have a UK passport:
1) No. There’s something called the Visa Waiver Scheme that UK nationals fall into if they come to Thailand on holiday for 30 days or less.
2) No. You’ll get a 30 day visa waiver stamp from immigration when you land in Thailand. This will allow you to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a formal visa.
