Cruises offer a unique departure from the ordinary travel options. With alluring ports of call located across the globe, and off-boat excursions for nearly every type of passenger, taking a cruise could provide you and your family with one of your most memorable vacation experiences. And with cruise lines expanding their itineraries to previously unvisited ports of call, your potential destinations are increasing every day. When most people think of the traditional cruise, they typically imagine a trip to either the Caribbean or Alaska. Perhaps, if they can afford a little more, a beautiful trip down the French Riviera. But cruise-goers are not limited to these choices any longer! For less than what you might pay for round trip airfare to Europe alone, you could enjoy a luxurious cruise to Southeast Asia or South America, two exotic yet often overlooked destinations! Southeast Asia Southeast Asia is greatly underrated for its natural beauty, but heralded for its cuisine and exotic cultures. Travel agencies have seen interest in Southeast Asian cruises skyrocket in the past decade. These cruises typically last at least five days, and can extend to two weeks or longer. Popular ports of call in this region include Singapore, Phuket and Langkawi. Singapore is a beautiful island city-state located at the tip of the Malay Peninsula, 85 miles north of the equator. One of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia, Singapore draws over 10 million tourists a year. Visitors will want to visit Singapore’s Orchard Road District, a very famous shopping destination. Or visit two of Singapore’s state-of-the-art casinos, built in 2005 when gambling was legalized. Phuket, which is coincidentally about the size of Singapore, is a southern province in Thailand, and its largest island. Phuket is popular for several attractions, namely its pristine beaches with the softest sand on earth, and its placement in the Top 5 of Fortune Magazine’s 2005 list of top retirement destinations. Also renowned for its cuisine and culture, Phuket is a predominantly Buddhist region with a wealth of history and architecture. The province is home to many beautiful Buddhist shrines. Langkawi, in the state of Kedah, is an archipelago of 99 tiny islands off the northwest coast of Malaysia. Also known as “the Jewel of Kedah,” Langkawi boasts what have been called the best beaches in Malaysia, including Burau Bay and Pantai Cenang. Langkawi Island has also been given World Geopark status, as it is home to some of the most unique geological formations and rock fields on earth. South America Our neighboring continent, South America is renowned for its beautiful beaches, exotic nightlife, and dynamic urban cultures. At the same time, it is one of the most sought after wildlife destinations in the world, thanks to the majestic Amazon Rainforest. A very nice South American cruise could last at least fourteen days, and should include ports of call on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the continent, including Buenos Aires, Ushuaia and Santiago. With a population of around 13 million, Buenos Aires is the capital of, and largest city in Argentina. Buenos Aires has experienced a sharp increase in tourism in recent years, enticing visitors from around the globe with world famous soccer matches, romantic tango lessons, lovely cafes and museums, and a wonderful blend of old and new architecture. Due to Argentina’s favorable exchange rate, its shopping districts such as Alto Palermo, Paseo Alcorta, and Galerias Pacifico are international favorites. Ushuaia is the capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego. It is commonly referred to as the southernmost city in the world. Ushuaia has always been a popular vacation spot for South Americans, particularly residents of Buenos Aires, but its international appeal has also grown over recent years. Its proximity to Antarctica and its resident killer whales, seals, and penguins make it a beloved stop for wildlife enthusiasts. And of course, it is home to Tierra del Fuego National Park, a unique region filled with beaches and glaciers alike. Santiago is the capital and largest city in Chile, with a population of over 5. 2 million. While in Santiago, you could enjoy one of two world famous symphony orchestras. Or, if you are a soccer fan, go out and root for Colo Colo, or the University of Chile, two of South America’s most famous football clubs. Santiago is also a popular destination for skiers, as it is nestled amid the Andes Mountains. Maybe this brief overview helped to pique your interest in these two overlooked cruise destinations, or perhaps you already knew about the amazing culture, wildlife and other attractions that these locales have to offer. Either way, if you are a cruise enthusiast, remember to take some chances every once in a while and try a taste of the exotic. Thinking outside the box could lead to the vacation of a lifetime.

Actually when you get into reading this article you will actually realise that Thai trips are quite different from others in the world as there is so much natural beauty. With ornate temples, picture-postcard beaches and luxurious resorts. These are among just a few of the spectacular things that are available. You just cannot find such natural beauty any where else. Finding your perfect settings will not always be easy as there are a lot of people out there “offering” “claiming” to be the best. Among these of course everybody claims that they are better than the last! Hopefully by reading this article you will realise the best place to go. Out of all these offerings on the internet today though nothing can beat chartering a yacht of your own with the crew already supplied, so actually you will need no previous sailing experience! Now lets get away for the boring stuff and start to discuss the interesting stuff that is available. Destinations! Ok now different regions that you can choose unless of course you are taking a whole year out where by there is plenty of time to see all of the discussed places/destinations in this article. I have listed a few below the best places to visit: Similans Phang Nga Bay Krabi Phi Phi Similans So lets start first with the ultimate destination. If you are planning anything more than a weeks trip I would recommend first of all trying Similans Islands. This is a group of islands on the south west coast of Thailand. When here you will soon come to realize are these are the best diving waters in the world they consist of Ko Bon, Ko Bayu, Ko Similan, Ko Payu, Ko Miang (two adjoining islands), Ko Payan, Ko Payang, and Ko Huyong. Recently, the park was expanded to included two remote islands which are Ko Bon and Ko Tachai. The Similans are situated 70 kilometers from Phang Nga town. “Similan” is a Yawi word which means “nine”. Similan is one of the most famous diving sites in the world. You are very lucky if you start your trip here! You will have to make sure though that you take your trips to Similans NOT between May 15th all the way through to November 1st of each year as the National park is closed during this time due to weather conditions. Please not that any charter company that try to “sell” or “offer” charters at this time of year is not reputable as the weather conditions are not good and it will be no fun! Phang Nga Bay Known for its limestone karsts and James Bond film (the man with the golden gun) the Phang Nga bay area really is one of those places that people dream about, this really is an unforgettable experience as it is a five star way to do it! The feeling that you are in this mystical place where once a film was a dream! For the The Man With The Golden Gun location: Scaramanga’s hideout: Khow-Ping-Kan, Phang Nga Bay, Thailand. You will actually feel like for once you are there like you are the very rich villain in your own private lair but on a five star private yacht! You will stop for lunch in private coves where the cordon bleu chef will prepare the lunch of your choice. You could even indulge in a nice bottle of Champagne on board deck! After lunch you can take the tender to one of over 50 private beaches, where you can soak up some sun with your friends and family. Cruises to Phang Nga Bay can be anything from a day trip to a weeks break as there are so many different undiscovered places to visit in this region, you will never feel crowded as there are not that many available in this region. Krabi This is a great place, with the most popular beach of Riley beach here you can go diving, snorkelling cave exploring or ashore and enjoy rock climbing if some of you guys are feeling energetic! Other than that you have the world class Rayavadee Krabi on Railay Beach, Ao Nang and Krabi. I recommend having your lunch here at the beach bar as it is sometimes nice to get on dry land and admire your yacht. Here you can also enjoy the most fabulous sunsets. Phi Phi I have saved one of the best till last. Second best actually in comparison to the Similans as a dive destination. This is the better option if you only have say 4-5 days. The Phi Phi islands are located in Thailand between the large island of Phuket and the Andaman sea, (administratively part of Krabi province) cruises to these regions are mind blowing with scenic views to die for!. Phi Phi is Best known for the film “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio. however by yacht will not leave you stranded! As you have your own private paradise on board while everyone else is left on uncomfortable fishing boats and speed boats! This is all for this article, please look out for my other cruise recommendations as I will be writing many more over the coming months!

As you cruise to exotic locations, the Superstar Virgo will make sure you don’t go without your luxuries. Off the boat you will be immersed in wonderfully diverse cultures and privy to some of the most awe inspiring sights the Far East has to offer. The ship itself has 902 cabins with a capacity of 1,804 people, but with the immense size of the ship you never feel crowded. With 12 onboard restaurants and bars serving a wide range of cuisines you won’t have to eat at the same restaurant twice! The entertainment is also first-class with a karaoke bar, disco and cinema being among the most popular. For those looking for something a bit more relaxed, the spa is on hand to rejuvenate you with an exotic treatment. If you want to work up a bit of a sweat physically then head over to the Apollo Spa and Fitness for a work out that’ll get you pumped. Or if mental exertion is more your style then The Mahjong Room is great for exercising the mind, with a game of this classic Chinese skill game. There is also a jumbo chess board, pool, jet current exercise pool and jogging track to keep you busy. Should urgent business matters crop up, a quick trip to the onboard business centre can provide you with all the facilities you should need to keep up to date with your business associates. There are also a range of shops, a video arcade, hair and beauty salon and library all within The Superstar Virgo. Your first port of call on your cruise is a brief stop at Singapore after a day at sea before embarking to Malacca. Reflecting on the multicultural history of Malaysia, there is a captivating blend of architectural styles from Arabic to Gothic, Chinese to Portuguese. Malacca is also renowned for its antiques and crafts, so after a bit of souvenir shopping, sail onto Port Klang for the afternoon. Singapore is next; a dazzling difference to the traditional Malacca, this high-tech city is vibrant and fast paced. Get whisked along to your Singapore hotel and enjoy all the sights this city has to offer. After your two night weekend break in Singapore, take to the seas once more as you cruise over to Penang to explore this pretty island, one of the most well-known beach resorts of Malaysia. Here you will find plenty of sightseeing opportunities, from Hindu temples and Buddhist statues to the modern hotels lining Batu Ferringhi Beach. [P1] Cruise on to Phuket, where you can relax with four nights at the Cape Panwa hotel. Phuket is famed for its beautiful beaches with spectacular sunsets, verdant coconut palms and sparkling lagoons and bays. If you choose to take a cruise with the Superstar Virgo, or fancy one of the many Thailand holidays on offer, it is good to know that you have such a diverse choice of locations to enjoy and explore.
