I’m planning an 8 day trip through Thailand. My main goal is to hang out on beautiful beaches, sleep in comfortable but cheap bungalows on or near the beach, and avoid rude and obnoxious foreigners.
Is it true that in February it is better to be on the west side of the south peninsula? I know Phuket is the tourist hotspot, but is it jam-packed with jerks and over-priced accommodations?
I’m also interested in some snorkeling and light hiking.
I’ll appreciate any recommendations!
Try Koh Samed, Koh Chang, or Koh Lipe.
My aunt’s friend visited Thailand and said she went to a show with men who went through countless surgeries to become women. That they wanted to become women so badly, even though they know they’ll only live to 40 maximum. Is Thailand really the place where all this happens?! What is the show called?
I agree with Erica.
I also find the wording of your question offensive. Men don’t "become" women. Transsexual women recieve treatment for their birth condition. Educate yourself:
http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/TS/TS.html
A transsexual women is a woman who was born into a male body, but they were never men.
A transsexual man is a man who was born into a female body, but they were never women.
And for your information transsexual men also recieve treatment in Thailand as well. Treatment is offered in a couple dozen countries, but Thailand has become a major center for such treatment. It’s estimated half of all surgeries take place there.
Am on holiday on Koh Samui for three weeks and would like to do a Thai Massage Course. Any advice? Thank you!
Go to your local book store and find :
"Thai Massage Course For Idiots!"
They seem to have these "Idiot" books about every subject on earth. (Just kidding!)
Just go to Pattaya and walk around, the party started already…
I’m heading to Thailand soon, transfer from Hotel to the Airport has not been arrange. I was thinking to just get a cab or organise it when i get there.
On my departure day, can i just wait outside my hotel and grab a taxi that easy ?? or is it best i organise something before hand over here (in australia) or few days before i leave the hotel?
thank you!
As it is already said- use a meter taxi.
Meter taxis have a small red light box in the bottom right (from the outside) of teh windscreen.
Dependign where your hotel is the taxi will cost anywhere from about 140thb up to about 250… and depends on trafic. Ask the doorman or clerk how much a taxi should cost.
(these costs are in BKK I assume you are there though you might be in Phuket if you are flying from Aus.)
There are cheap taxis without the meters however most are not and as you cant speak any language or know teh economy well I sugest you stick to meter cabs.
Tuk Tuks are all negotiable and if you can get a tuk tuk to teh airport for 100thb then you may as well take it.. that said most arguments over transport occur with Tuk Tuk drivers. So best to avoid them.
Taxis are like Ants in Bangkok. Your hotel will give you a good indication of what a reasonable price is.
I am from Aus, and I can assure you that the taxi drivers in Thailand are (genrally speaking) 1000x more honest than the ones in Melbourne and Sydney.
Enjoy your trip mate.

Thailand tells the story of a young man who travels into the wild of Southeast Asia, for adventure and for Peace. His journey leads him through cities, mountains, islands, oceans and spirits, in search of a treasure with no beginning and no end.
